what are you listening to?

What's your fave band? Do you listen to lots of different types of music or do you have a style that you stick with? I like all sorts of stuff. Today while I work I'm having a bit of a 90's mixtape kinda day! Lots of rad bands pumping out the jams while I work like Pavement, Weezer, Pixies, Custard, Super Furry Animals, Ween and these dudes - They Might Be Giants. Thought I'd share this rad little song with ya, it always makes me happy and I always have a bit of a sing along to this one teehee! Have a good Wednesday! xo

FREE printable lunchbox notes!

Howdy all! It's back-to-school time here in Australia, so for this week's Mum's Business article I've created some FREE printable notes you can hide in your kid's lunchbox for a nice surprise at lunchtime! All you have to do is print them off, cut them out, write a little 'Love from Mum (or Dad)' if you wish, and pop them in the lunchbox. My mum would sometimes put a cute little note in our school lunches, I remember it made my day when I opened up my lunchbox to find a sweet little 'Have a great day' or 'I love you!' message. You can download them right here. Have fun! xo

January garden

We've been eating our rainbow carrots and spuds mmm!
Bean and pumpkin flowers turn into....
Beans! And (baby) pumpkins!
Waiting for blueberries to ripen. And we've had a HUGE big bumper crop of strawberries this year mmm! I've frozen enough for a huge batch of jam and I think we'll even have enough to make sorbet too.
Little green crab apples and cumquats starting to ripen.
My Summer garden is not complete without basil! Sage and silver thyme grow alongside parsley, oregano and rosemary for super fresh instant flavour in all sorts of dishes.

Helloooo! Wowsers things have been B-U-S-Y. Pedal to the metal, all systems go! Great to have such a lot of work on so early in the year but my poor old blog has been a bit neglected. How have you been? Are you well? I hope so! Summer is kicking along here and it's such a nice time of year in the vegie patch. Thought I'd share a few snaps of my garden this week :) The chickens are doing really well too yay! Oh yeah we named them all... They're all named after dragons, with Godzilla (OK so that is a monster not a dragon) - the blue chook, Falcor - the araucana and Mushu - the gold.

CHOOKIES!

Blue Wyandotte bantam
Gold Pencilled Wyandotte bantam
Lavender Araucana, she will lay pale blue eggs
Oh yeah! Something I've been wanting for a LOOONNNNGG time - chickens! We built a nice big chicken coop AGES ago and I've been so busy I just haven't had time to fill it with chooks, until now - yippee!! Say hello to our three lovely ladies... we have two little bantams of the Wyandotte breed; a pretty blue and a gorgeous gold pencilled. And a funny-lookin chicken of the Lavender Araucana variety who will lay eggs that are the most beautiful pale blue colour. Yep - blue chook eggs yay! These girls won't start laying for another couple of months, but in the meantime I'm really enjoying getting to know them teehee! I think this may get addictive, I'm already planning an extension to the chook run so we can get more :)

Happy New Year lovelies! Did you have a nice Christmas and New Year's Eve? I hope you all had a rockin time. I had a rad time! Thought I would share this super easy project with you all, so if you fancy making your diary look a bit funk-ay this year, why not give it a go?! Find instructions here. what a fab day!

I had a wee table and chairs set up with free colour-in activities for the kiddies - it was a hit!
Elora came to the market in between naps, dressed her in her Wonder Woman onesie hehe!
Market day was UNREAL! The rain held off until late in the arvo, long after we had packed up and gone home - hurrah! It was warm and sunny (although quite gusty, there were moments I thought the marquee might blow away!) and lots of lovely, lovely people came out to enjoy the market. I met some fab people and had some very gorgeous customers - thanks guys! I think my fave customers had to be a wee brother and sister team who got very excited about choosing little owl softies for themselves and didn't want me to put them into paper bags because they just wanted to cuddle them hehehe! SO CUTE! Big, fat thanks to my awesome sis who helped out the whole day and Marty and my folks-in-law who supplied tables, transport and helping hands for set-up and pack-down. Will most definitely be doing that market again throughout 2012 hurrah! Happy Sunday folks! xox
P.S... I have FIVE owl softies left, they'll be up in my Etsy store tonight if anyone would like to provide homes for them! :)

kinda nearly almost ready

Nearly organised for the market tomorrow yay! SO many little things to do - packaging and price tags and figuring out how to display stuff! But it's all fun and it's a good learning process :)
There's rain and even thunderstorms forecast for tomorrow from late morning so I'm REALLY hoping those big old rainclouds hold off until later in the day, fingers crossed! Come on down and say hello if you are in the area, I'd love to see you!!
I'll have SPECIAL market prices on all my products - Christmas cards $3, greeting cards $4, colouring-in kits $12, invite packs $10 and lots more!
Okie dokie, I'm gonna go cut out some price display sign thingies now.... hope you have a great Friday and a lovely weekend!

making babies...

... owl babies teehee! Here is what I've been creating with my sewing machine. I even had some Little Beehive tags made up so these little dudes can show loud and proud where they came from :) They are made from new and vintage fabric and pure wool felt. They were heaps of fun to make, I only wish I had time to make some more. There will be 14 of these guys for sale at the market for $15 each, but any owls that haven't found homes will be looking for owners in my Etsy shop after the market. I do hope to create some more so they can be a permanent item in my Etsy shop. Hope your Mondays are smooth sailing! xo

Hello and happy Thursday! Just a little sneaky peek at some brand new mini prints I'll be selling at the market :) They will also be available in my Etsy shop next week for $10 each. They are 4x6 inches, the same size as a standard photo so they will fit into any frame :) I'll let you know when they're up and ready! Righto, I'm gonna keep sewing... I'll have some hand made stitchy show-and-tell for you next week too, I've been having some fun with the sewing machine yay! xo

to market, to market!

Hello lovelies! What's cookin? I'm cooking up lots of stuff - busy trying to get a few spiffy new products made because I'm going to take my Little Beehive products to market yay! I'll be having a stall at the Grassroots Community Market in Upwey on Saturday 10th December. We checked it out on the weekend and it was really ace - lots of different stalls and some yummy food too! I'm a bit excited :) Alrighty I'd best get back to it. I'll keep you posted on my new products - I'm excited about those too (I'm gonna get busy with some hand-made stitchy stuff woohoo!) xo
